Haworth 1940’s Weekend

imagesFor two decades now the village of Haworth has held a Vintage 1940’s weekend, this has become one of the largest events of its kind. Running from the 17th May to 19th May 2019. The local committee who organise the whole event, run it in support of The Soldiers, Sailors and Airman Family Association – a charity that supports of current and retired service men. personnel

You can enjoy a pleasant stay at Moorlodge Country Retreat
and travel the 4 miles into Haworth by taxi for the festivities. With many locals and visitors dressing in period costume to get into the spirit of the event, there is a real feel of wartime Britain. With a fly past by a Douglas C-47 Dakota  the atmosphere is really set . This year in Haworth’s Central Park you can browse many wartime themed stalls, military vehicles and the “Victory Bar” beer tent.

1960’s Weekend Haworth

This year the 1960s weekend in Haworth is held on Saturday 30th June and Sunday 1st July. It is a groovy celebration of all things related to the swinging sixties from the shortest of mini skirts to the grooviest of hippies. If you fancy adorning yourself in a flowered shirt and stepping out in your tight healed boots then come along for the weekend and join in the fun.. Country Walks

If you love rambling Moorlodge Country Retreat is a great base to explore the Bronte Countryside. Locally there are a variety of walks ranging from easy historic walks or longer more difficult ones over the local moors. The scenery around this area is truly breath taking so whether you fancy an easy stroll or you are an hardened rambler there are plenty of walks to suit all abilities.

Within an hours drive you can be in the Yorkshire Dales where you might fancy tackling one of the Yorkshire 3 peaks ,Pen- y -ghent, Ingleborough or  Whernside. Just a short drive away is the dales village of Malham with it’s  famous Cove. Top Withens

Mountain Biking

Moorlodge Country Retreat is situated in the South Pennines and is surrounded by the best mountain biking terrain in the country. These wild moorlands are not for the faint hearted but if you have good climbing skills and a taste for adventure then you will fine yourself in mountain biking heaven. Local routes include Ogden, Hebden Bridge and Todmorden and a little further a field there are routes around Ilkey and The Yorkshire Dales. Our apartments can sleep up to 7 so we can easily accommodate groups of enthusiasts and their bikes which can be stored safely in one of our sheds.
