Moorlodge Country Retreat is a particularly good base for walkers and mountain bikers a like. Bronte country is renown for its wonderful moorland paths of steady climbs and long descents. Many of the treks take you along the Bronte Way merging with the South Pennine hills and across the border into Lancashire. Locally you can walk the same routes as the Bronte Sisters. Passing by the Bronte Waterfalls and up a craggy hillside to Top Withens, where a ruined farm stands which is thought to be the dilapidated home of the Earnshaws in Emily’s, “Wuthering Heights.”
Donna the manager at Moorlodge knows these walks back to front and often gives free guided walks; of course your furry friends are most welcome.
